How do I Bypass a sensor from the website?

YOUR SYSTEM WILL NOT ARM IF A SENSOR HAS A FAULT OR TROUBLE CONDITION UNLESS THAT SENSOR IS BYPASSED.

This FAQ applies to sensors on doors or windows that you might want to leave open and to sensors with serious problems.

Notes

  • Faults include doors and windows that are simply Open.
  • Trouble  conditions include low batteries, communication problems and sensors that have been tampered with.
  • A bypassed sensor won't prevent the system from being Armed. (That's the point of being able to bypass a sensor.)
    • As we say below (but it bears repeating), Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) sensors cannot be bypassed.
  • The next time the system is Disarmed, Bypassed zones are automatically cleared (un-bypassed).
  • Your system may work a bit differently from what is described here; the options may vary with the hardware details of the system.
If you try to Arm your system when a sensor has a Fault or Trouble condition, you'll see a message like this:

  • Click the blue text link that indicates the faulted sensor(s) and you'll get a choice of View All Sensors or Bypass Sensor. If you're dealing with only one sensor issue, choose Bypass Sensor.

    • View All Sensors presents a list of all your sensors. This list includes those cannot be bypassed, like Fire and Carbon Monoxide sensors and the 'virtual zones' that cannot be bypassed, with designations like "996 Medical" and "999 Police". From this list, you can select among the bypassable sensors and select Bypass.

    • Whey you click Bypass Sensor, your user code may be required.

  • After the sensor is bypassed, you'll be able to arm your security system and the status will look something like this.

Additional Notes:

  • Don't ignore sensors with Trouble conditions! Low batteries should be replaced and communication problems should be resolved at your earliest opportunity. Tamper conditions should be investigated and fixed immediately.

  • Fire and Carbon Monoxide (CO) sensors cannot be bypassed
  • Entries on the sensor list with labels such Temperature, Local Alarm and Police are "virtual zones" representing other functions and cannot be bypassed.
